It is hard to believe the summer season in these parts is nearing an end. When I think of summer I think of lazy cocktails by a beach or pool, and just relaxing. Source Books has a new book called the The Best Summer Drinks by Ray Foley. Ray is the publisher of Bartender Magazine and a mixologist extraordinaire. Name the brand or spirit and he has a drink for you. The book is alphabetized by recipe name, but a handy index lets you search by alcohol type and brand. Ray has also included a tasty chapter of Summer recipes with such as Grilled Honey Bourbon Chicken, Bacardi Lime Sherbet, and Kicked Up Cuervo Ribs.A glossary of tools and bar tending terms as well as basic instructions on hoe to properly rim your glass are included. The book is small and handy to place at the bar or give as gift with 500 recipes. I will be giving away 2 copies to randomly selected commenter's. Just leave a comment and tell me what your favorite summer memory and cocktail is.

Do i really have to narrow it down to one?
Hmm...lets see.
i would have to say that my favorite summer cocktail is an amaretto stone sour. its got just the right amount of sweetness and a bit of a punch.
as far as memories goes as much as i enjoy my adult summers and being able to do pretty much whatever i want, i would have to say that summers as a child at my Grams house were the best.
we played sports, rode bikes, ate and frolicked all day.
how i crave "that" kind of freedom once again.
Favorite cocktail is sangria. i made sangria for a ex of mine and he was tore down!!! I make infamous sangria.:)
I think my best summer memories are the ones when I went to summer school @ my college. Like no one went home, everyone was still on the yard for summer school and we had freaking ball!!! Partying every day, cooking out, clubbing, laughing, just enjoying freedom of being a college kid. Absolutely missed it to death.
Of course mt all time favourite summer beverage is a Bellini. It's frozen peach slush with a splash of Sangria is the best in my books. What could be better than sipping this cocktail overlooking the lake with a warm summer breeze and good friends.
My favorite summer memories are of the NJ shore. My favorite summer drink is a big glass of iced tea with fresh lemon and mint garnish.
I love Piña Colada!
That book seems interesting and that^cocktail delicious!
Cheers,
Rosa
I have too many favorite summer cocktails/memories to narrow it! BTW... the recipe posted sounds absolutely wonderful.
I'll tie together favorite summer memories/cocktails. A Campari and Soda with a twist of lemon or orange or lime at an outdoor cafe in Paris, Florence, Venice or Rome. Perfection!
My favorite summer memory is lying in the grass in Michigan - it's so soft up there and so hard here in GA!
My favorite summer drink is a lemon martini - is that even a summer drink? :)
favorite summer cocktail is probably a mojito--yum!
favorite summer memory is hard...i suppose family vacations in general. love them :)
thanks for the giveaway!
I don't drink (though I bake and cook with liquor and wine), so this will be a virgin cocktail, I guess. I make what might be considered a pseudo-gin and tonic, but it's really just sparkling mineral water or tonic water with flavored sugar syrup, freshly squeezed lime juice and the lime I squeezed in the glass. Sometimes I add a sweetened iced tea concentrate in place of the sugar syrup.
My favorite summer memory was when my brothers and I would take off on our bikes and bike around the neighborhood for a few hours. The other was when my brother decided to start a "Tour de House". We made "singlets" with our race sponsor's logo and ran around our house. Whoever had the most laps in a set time won, lol.
Great shot of a shot! Looks like a party in a glass.
I'm a enophile, have to pass on the liqueur...

Mojitos remind me of the mint that used to grow wild in my backyard!!
A lemonade shake-up with a splash of vodka...
Too bad we didn’t have a summer here this year, lol. I did have a mojito for the first time this summer, it was mighty tasty. DH doesn’t drink at all, so I don’t too often (who wants to drink alone? no fun in that).
I love Kahlua.
Paz ;-)
